Betty Parker Hobson

Betty (Bet) Parker Hobson, 96 of Spring Lake entered her eternal home in heaven on Wednesday, Jan 7, 2026 after a brief illness. Bet was born on July 26, 1929 to Malcolm and Lilly Parker in Linden, NC. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband, Vernon Hobson, her sister and best friend, Tee Moss and her nephew, Donald Moss.

Bet was truly a steadfast woman of God who joyfully lived out her faith by helping and serving others in her community and her beloved church, Hollandale Advent Christian Church. She was a charter member of Hollandale where she served as the church treasurer and taught Sunday School for 40 years.

Bet married the love of her life, Vernon on Nov 26, 1947 and they had over 60 years of happiness together. Although Bet had no biological children of her own, she had many who thought of her as a mother and “Bebe.”

Bet found immeasurable joy cooking and baking for her family and friends. She was famous for her incredible 8 layer chocolate cakes and homemade pound cakes! Bet loved nothing more than cooking and serving her family in her immaculate home! She took great pride in being a wonderful housekeeper and you could practically eat off her floor! Not only was she an outstanding cook and home maker but Bet was an avid gardener who loved to work in her yard. She was thrilled when she won “Yard of the Month!” Another one of her favorite joys was cheering on her favorite team, The Atlanta Braves!

Bet was a warm, friendly, outgoing and joyful soul who never met a stranger. Her smile lit up every room she entered. She was loved by everyone who was fortunate enough to know her. Bet will always be remembered for her faith, love of her family and friends and by the way she served her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Bet leaves behind her loving family her nieces Kim Donaldson (Steve) and Jennifer Davis (Scott). Her great nieces, Averi DeLoach (Ben), Analee Donaldson, Jessica Moss and Tatum Davis. Nephews, Kent Donaldson, Wesley Moss, Luke Davis (Elly) and great, great niece Josie.

Memorials in Bet’s memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
